New Year, new countries, new projects

We welcomed in 2013 fairly quietly with our Hong Kong family having had a busy Christmas period.  As I line up all sorts of things that I want to do this year I feel excited and overwhelmed as this is all on top of work, motherhood, wifehood (is that a word?)

Ever at the foreground of my mind is my travelling.  Chinese New Year will see us going to Bangladesh (after our Myanmar trip fell through) and we are very excited about that.  Easter will see us in Sichuan, China, as I will be there for a conference at the end of March, so we thought – let’s use the visa!  The summer and October are still open, though Myanmar might hopefully be on the agenda.

Closer to home, in fact, at home the aim is for a giant spring-clean!  I hope we can do a massive clear-out of ‘stuff’ from the house and the shed.  We are so cluttered (easy to be that way in Hong Kong tiny housing) and it’s just ridiculous, especially since we really don’t use or need half of it.  The aim here is by Chinese New Year.  Might do a photo essay on that one…

Photo albums:  I finally got all our wedding pics (HK & UK) into albums.  Now I want to get some of the highlights our trips over the last 2 years into a travel album.

Travel Writing: having done some pretty amazing trips in the last year (Laos, Ho Chi Minh, UK train trip, North Korea, Kurdistan) I would like to share these with others to encourage more people to go, explain how to go and how to get the best out of it (particularly for North Korea).  I also want to encourage parents to travel with their children and give tips for that too.  I’m going to try writing some articles and send them off to online magazines and even try the local Sai Kung mag.  I’ll give it a go

Blogging:  Setting up, posting and getting the look right on this infant blog is another project I’m hoping to do.  It’s not looking like I want.  This will need time, which, in all fairness since I work part time at the mo, I have.

New art projects at school which will need demos – fun stuff!

Personal Project (I) that will combine music and art… this will require lots of time in a recording studio, making backing tracks, draft drawings and paintings…

Personal Project (II) a musical one with Andrew… more time in the recording studio and a serious listen at the quality of my voice… :/

Wow – what a list!  I wonder if I’ll do them all.  Would be awesome if I did… let’s see.  Lots of discipline needed methinks…
